UHTTI Admissions

The Institute has two (2) intakes every academic year; April and August for both Certificate and Diploma courses. April intake has privately sponsored while August intake shall be for both Private and Government sponsorship.

Admission criteria

Admission to Diploma Programs

A. Government Sponsorship (Window I)

  1. All Admissions are through the Joint Admission Board (JAB)
  2. Successful students will receive their admission letters at the Institute from the Office of the Academic Registrar.

B. Privately Sponsored (Window II)

  1. Application forms are obtain at the Institute or download online at a prescribed fee of 50,000/= (non refundable) payable in any DFCU Bank in favor of Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute , on Account number : 01463656075963
  2. Application forms should be filled by the applicant and submitted to the Academic Registrar’s office.
  3. Only short listed applicants will be contacted for pre-entry examinations
  4. Successful students will receive their admission letters at the Institute or electronically for the online applicants.
  5. International students- may receive online- admission letters

Who is eligible ?

Eligibility for admission for a Diploma program

Grades

Eligible students should have at least One (1) principal pass and two (2) subsidiary passes obtained in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in either Science or Arts Subject Combinations and 5 passes at
Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) obtained at the same sitting respectively or their Equivalents from a recognized institution.


Certificate Courses

Eligibility for admission for a Certificate courses

  • Eligible candidates should have completed Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 4 Passes one of which should be in English language or its equivalent
  • Application forms are obtained at the Institute or online at a prescribed fee of 50,000/= (non refundable) payable in any DFCU Bank in favor of Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute , on Account number : 01463656075963 and submitted to the Academic Registrar’s office.
  • Persons applying for a certificate in Tour Guiding must have passed four (4) subjects which must include English language, Geography.
  • Only short listed applicants will be contacted for pre entry examinations.
  • Successful students will receive their admission letters at the Institute or electronically for online applicants.

Admissions for other Courses

In-Service Courses

This shall be offered to applicants who have been in the industry but without any formal training in the hospitality and tourism field.

Supervisory Courses

This shall be offered to applicants who have been in the industry but require
supervisory skills.

  • Eligible applicants must have completed at least a certificate in Hotel/Tourism studies or any other relevant program from a recognized Hospitality/Tourism Training Institute with a working experience of at least three (3) years.

Short and Tailored courses

The Institute offers a wide range of short courses targeting holiday markers, interested individuals/organizations. The short course policy of the Institute is as follows:

  • Managed under the Academic Registrar’s Office with guidance from the relevant departments
    Methods of delivery is based on non-formal skills training methodology. Admissions are on quarterly basis
  • Holiday courses are conducted in the months of December and
    January only.
  • Certificates of attendance are issued immediately upon completion
