The Hotel and Tourism Training Institute is a tertiary institution fully owned by the Government of Uganda with a mission “To produce a highly skilled and competent workforce for the National and International tourism and hospitality industry”. Over the years, HTTI has established itself as a Center of Excellence in the field of Hotel and Tourism Training in line with its motto “Skills Excel”.

In order to carry out its functions efficiently and effectively, Management of The Hotel and Tourism Training Institute– Jinja hereby invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill Vacant Posts below, at the Institute in Jinja, on a two years renewable contract. Age  Limit 25-45 years

1.Post: Internal Auditor, Salary Scale HTTI4 Upper

Reports to:     Principal

Job Purpose: To Monitor the Implementation of the Budget of the Institute.

 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Managing and coordinating Institute Audit Function
  2. Carrying out special Audit Assignments
  3. Facilitating and evaluating Risk management process.
  4. Producing and submitting Internal Audit reports to relevant authorities.
  5. Evaluating and reviewing Financial Internal Controls.
  6. Executing financial Auditing.
  7. Carrying out Audit inspection and performance Audit.
  8. Carrying out implementation of Audit recommendations.
  9. Controlling receipt custody and utilization of financial resources.
  10. Facilitating financial and operational procedures to ensure value for money.
  11. Auditing procurement and payment procedures to facilitate efficient and effective transactions of the Institute.
  12. Carrying out manpower audit in line with the budget and laws.
  13. Conducting stores audit for safe custody, efficiency and economic usage of resources.

(a) QUALIFICATIONS:

An Honors Bachelors degree in Finance and Accounting or B.com (Accounting option)

or BBA Studies (Accounting option) plus full professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognized institution affiliated to IFAC.

Professional qualification in Internal Audit, like Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified

Information System in Internal Audit (CISA), or equivalent level of qualification in

Internal Audit is an added advantage.

(b) EXPERIENCE:

(i) At least (3) years of relevant working experience in the same field in a Government Organization or reputable Organization.

(c) COMPETENCIES:

  • Adequate knowledge of regulatory policies and guidelines of management of resources, Ethics and Integrity, Accountability,Excellent Research and analytical skills,  Time Management, ICT proficiency, Good communication skills,Report writing and Presentation skills, Time Management, Interpersonal skills

2. Post: Accountant, Salary Scale: HTTI 4 Upper

? Reports to: Principal

Job Purpose: To manage the financial transactions in of the Institute, ensure collection, expenditure and accountability in accordance with the Financial and Accounting Regulations.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Providing support to Accounting Officer in establishment and execution of efficient and effective financial management system
  2. Preparing and consolidating budgets and work plans and facilitating their execution
  3. Verifying completeness of payment requisitions, justifications and documentation of financial transactions.
  4. Supervising periodic reconciliations of: ledgers and cash books to account statements; Non-Tax Revenue to URA provisional returns, and to provide advice on appropriate actions.
  5. Producing routine financial management information and draft periodic financial statements and reports for management use.
  6. Preparing draft periodic statements and reports for compilation for final accounts.
  7. Coordinating preparation of draft responses to audit activities or queries and oversight issues.
  8. Preparing requests for funding.
  9. Overseeing day to-day operations of Accounts Unit.
  10. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

a) QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Either: An Honors Bachelors Degree in either commerce (Accounting option)or Business Administration (Accounting option) or Business Studies (Accounting option) or Finance and Accounting from a recognized Institution,
  • Or Full qualification in accountancy such a ACCA, CPA, ACIC AND CPE obtained from a recognized awarding Institution/body accredited by ICPAU from a recognized Institution.

(b) EXPERIENCE:

    (i) At least (3) years of relevant working experience as head of accounts section in a Government Organization or reputable Organization

 (c) COMPETENCIES:

Financial Management,Planning, Organizing and coordinating skills, Integrity, Accountability,Time Management,good Communication and interpersonal skills, Knowledge of ICT, Time Management, self-drive.

3. Post: Instructor Pastry and Bakery: HTTI 4 Upper

Reports to: Head of Pastry and Bakery

Job Purpose: To Instruct and assess students in the various fields of study.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To prepare work plans and lesson plans.
  2. To conduct lessons according to the set timetable.
  3. Organise and supervise practical training.
  4. To participate in setting, administering and marking of internal and external examinations.
  5. To supervise and mark students fieldwork and research.
  6. To carry out continuous assessment and evaluation of students performance.
  7. Compile and present assessment results to immediate supervisor.
  8. Tutor assigned student and report progress.
  9. To guide and counsel trainees/students.
  10. To attend general staff meetings, panel, departmental and committee meetings.
  11. To participate in co-curricular activities.
  12. To ensure students discipline.
  13. To participate in the self-assessment and appraisal of the Assistant Instructor.
  14. To conduct any other duties related to the profession.

(a)        QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelors Degree in Hotel Management or related field from a recognized university/institution.
  2. Applicants should have at least three years of working experience as pastry chef/ cook in a recognized Hotel or Bakery or any other recognized hospitality organisation.
  3.  Applicants with Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational studies with Education with a Diploma in Pastry and Bakery or of Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Hotel Management in addition to ii. above are encouraged to apply.
  4. Ugandan Graduates of ITH Salzburg are highly encouraged to apply

4. Job Title:  Instructor. Tourism HTTI4 Upper

Reports to: The Head of Department

PERSONS SPECIFICATIONS:

(a)        QUALIFICATIONS:

Department              : Business and consultancy Unit

Post                             : Marketing Officer (1)

Salary Scale               : HTTI 4

Age Limit                   : 25-45 years

Job purpose               : To be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to meet all the agreed goals of our organization.

Duties                         :  Marketing the Institute Training and Hospitality services both locally and internationally.

Required Qualifications:

  • Either: Honors Bachelors degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a bias in Marketing from a recognized University or Institute.
  • Plus experience of three years in marketing field.
  • Competence of on line marketing and on line accounting skills will be an added advantage.
